Resumen en Inglés :

Treatment of drought applied during the critical water requirement period
of the onion plant (Allium cepa L.) (beginning of bulb formation) causes a
detrimental effect on the fresh weight and diameter of the bulb. The number
of leaves and bulb scales is not markedly affected. The maximum foliar dry
weight increase occurs during this period and the drought affects negatively
this increase. As a consecuence of this phenomenon, the bulb dry weight accumulation is also affected. It is conclude that the decrease in the values of
fresh and dry weight of the bulbs and bulb swelling is related with a lower
synthetic capacity of their leaves.
