The health emergency decreed in Argentina in March 2020 due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic forced the choirs to pause their face-to-face activity. This made it necessary to rethink the way of working in a new paradigm that is transversely opposite to that inherent in the activity. The forced adaptation of the face-to-face and group amateur choral activity to a paradigm of remote and individual work became a problem that was addressed on the spot by the University Choir of Mendoza with the aim not only of not abandoning the musical exercise, but also to continue offering the space so that the participants can continue to meet at a distance.
Through this research I have documented the work of said choir from March 16 (date remote activity began) to June 27 (start of winter break). For this study the bass section acted as the central case, paying attention then to the activity of the choir as a whole. The objective was to analyze the tools and strategies for the virtual teaching of repertoire in the context of an amateur choir. The proposed approach suggests a concentric design in three spheres, with the focus on the bass section of the Coro Universitario as a case study and from which other questions arise, answered by observing the activity of the choir as an organism in its entirety and the experience of other choirs in Mendoza.
